Short answer

Mamdani's policy record so far is centred on affordability: rent stabilisation, free buses, universal childcare, city owned groceries, housing supply, wages, public safety reform and sanctuary city protections.

The clearest early completed item is the rent freeze for rent stabilised apartments. Childcare funding has moved forward. The free bus promise remains tied to the MTA, Albany and replacement revenue.

Some policies sit inside City Hall. Others depend on Albany, independent boards, the MTA, courts or federal funding.

Main policy areas

Housing is the centre: rent freeze, tenant enforcement, CityFHEPS, public housing and new supply.

Transit is the daily cost issue: free buses, fare pressure, bus lanes and MTA funding.

Care and wages are the labour market issues: childcare places, care worker pay, minimum wage pressure and whether families can stay in the city.

How to judge them

Look for adopted budgets, board votes, agency rules, route maps, public contracts, eligibility systems and service results.

A speech is not delivery. A funded programme with people using it is delivery.
